Research
CFS is a long-term condition that affects different parts of the body. The most common symptom is extreme tiredness. This condition has no singular cause, and no cure. The main symptoms are:
- Extreme tiredness / fatigue all the time, which can make day to day activities such as taking a shower, or going to work etc more difficult than the average person.
- Sleep problems, like insomnia, oversleeping, feeling like you have not slept at all, stiffness when waking up.
- problems with concentration, thinking and memory (fog)
- worsening of symptoms after physical or mental activity, possibly taking weeks to get any better (PEM)
CFS is different in every person, some people experience pain in different areas of the body, and manage at different levels to other people.
There is currently no cure for this condition but there are different treatments to help with managing some of the symptoms.
-Energy management: where you are given advice on how to make the vest use of energy without worsening your symptoms
- Therapy : You can go to cognitive behavioural therapy where a therapist can help people come to terms with the illness and help manage it.
- Medication: You can be prescribed high dose pain meds for the pain, meds to help with sleeping.

These characters are based on the four main symptoms of this illness.
The yellow character represents PEM, or most commonly called "The crash". A symptom that causes the person to feel a worsening of their regular day-to-day symptoms. The dark blue character represents the Brain Fog section of the illness. Where memories are fuzzy, and the person experiences cognitive dysfunction. The lighter blue character represents the "Sleep Paradox", which is insomnia, and the feeling of no sleep when you have actually slept for 8+ hours. Finally, the orange character represents the pain and aches of the illness. The constant joint pains, muscle pains, and headaches that the person experiences day-to-day. |
