Research: 3D

The 3D project brief is to create one 12" Album cover, and two 7" Single covers. These must be made in 3D and captured on camera.
Book research:
To start we watched a documentary called 'Squaring the circle' which was all about the journey of Hipgnosis. This documentary really inspired me for this project as i though their album covers really connected with my band.
I went to the library and borrowed some books on album covers specifically, 'The book of record jackets edited by Hipgnosis & Rodger Dean' , and 'DVD-art innovation in DVD packaging design by Charlotte Rivers.
Work: 3D
Initial ideas:
Album Cover: Doomsday Breakfast
The album is composed of 3D objects and it has to be 12" x 12" in scale, as well as being photographed.

Chosen Images to experiment with:
Inspiration:
For the first single cover I took inspiration from sex pistols posters and 80s British punk, with psychedelic influences. I researched into these popular bands within this genre, including looking into the act defacing in punk culture.
Another very big influence for this part of the project (specifically the colour palette) was how punk culture is represented in other media, for example the character concept art for 'Hobie Brown' from Spiderman Across The Spider-Verse.

Packaging plans:
My plan for my packaging is to create a box for the single to go in, as well as including some other items such as; 2 badges, 2 stickers and a tour t-shirt.

Inspiration:
For this part of the project my inspiration came from 'Hipgnosis', as I wanted to create an overly edited image for this cover.
